FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions our patients ask.

What is an Open MRI, and how is it different from a traditional MRI?

An Open MRI uses a spacious design that is open on all sides, rather than a narrow tube like traditional MRIs. This makes the scan much more comfortable, especially for patients who feel anxious or claustrophobic. You can breathe easier, see the room around you, and often have a friend or family member close by.

Will I feel anything during my MRI scan?

No, the MRI is completely painless. You might hear some gentle humming or tapping sounds from the machine, but you will not feel any discomfort. If you ever feel uneasy, just let our technologist know—we’re here to help.

How long will my MRI or X-ray appointment take?

Most MRI scans take about 30–45 minutes, depending on the area being imaged. X-rays are usually very quick and can be completed in 10–15 minutes. We’ll let you know what to expect before your visit so you can plan accordingly.

Is the MRI or X-ray safe?

Yes. MRI uses no radiation at all, and our Open MRI is extremely safe. Our digital X-ray system uses low-dose radiation and advanced safety protocols to minimize exposure. Your health and safety are always our top priorities.

Can someone come with me to my appointment?

Absolutely. We understand that having a familiar face nearby can make a big difference. A friend or family member is welcome to come with you and wait in our comfortable reception area during your scan.

What should I wear to my MRI or X-ray?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing without zippers, snaps, or metal. For MRIs, you may be asked to change into a gown to avoid interference with the images. We’ll guide you through any preparation when you arrive.

How do I get my results?

Your images will be reviewed by a board-certified radiologist, and a detailed report will be sent directly to your referring physician. Your doctor will then discuss the results with you and plan any next steps.

What if I’m nervous about my scan?

That’s completely understandable, and you’re not alone. Our caring technologists will explain everything in advance and check on you throughout your exam. We specialize in helping patients feel comfortable and relaxed—you’re in good hands here.
